Both students and teachers may add their pictures to their profile, add blogs, and participate in online discussions called forums. Below I will explain how to add pictures to your profiles, add blogs and participate in online forums. I will explain how to do the aforementioned in the order they appear.

Firstly, in order to add pictures to your profile click on the "my profile" link on the home page of the site under the "my menu" heading on the left hand side of the page. When your profile comes up, click on the "edit profile" tab at the top of your profile. Go to the the bottom part of the profile and you will see the "New Picture" and the upload link. Click the browse button and search for the picture on your computer through the dialogue box that will immediately appear upon pressing the browse button. Select the picture and you will then see the path to the picture written out the box. Go to the end of the page and click "update profile" and then the picture will be added to your profile. On the same edit profile page, you may also write a short description of yourself so that people can know about you. You are encouraged to add a picture of yourself. However, you cannot put up inappropriate pictures or pictures of other people as your picture. You are encourage to put up pictures of you not of anything else.

Secondly, to add a blog, you should click the "my blog" link which is located just below the "my profile" link. Click add new entry and then add a new entry.

Lastly, you may participate in forums that are opened up by the site administrator and teachers. You may click the add a discussion link and talk about issues that are relevant to the forum. You may also subscribe to a forum so that you can receive an email about any new post to that forum. You may also participate in site news forum and the news forum on the various course homepages. Unfortunately, students are not allowed to open up forums, but they can add new discussions to existing forums.
